I got into marketing by accident. My career started in a life sciences lab, where I was trained to follow the scientific method: form a hypothesis, test it, and let the data tell the story — without bias. No gut feelings. No assumptions. Just the signal.
When I moved into operations and became COO of Covalent Bonds, a niche B2B agency, I was struck by how much of the industry ran on instinct. Campaigns launched on hunches. Reports were built to impress, not to decide. As someone hardwired to require objective data before making a confident decision, that chaos wasn't uncomfortable — it was a problem I felt compelled to solve. So I fell back on what I knew. I began systematically testing everything to find the signal in the noise. That became my core function: translating complex data into a clear, actionable story.
Over time that analytical approach became the agency's competitive edge. I became the person clients relied on to make sense of GA4, GTM, attribution modeling, and campaign performance — not just to report the numbers but to diagnose what they meant and prescribe what to do next. The data layer of the agency ran through me because I'd built it, refined it, and learned it the hard way through real accounts, real budgets, and real consequences.
It worked. And then it became the bottleneck.
Because I was also running the whole backend of the company — finance, HR, operations, systems architecture. And on top of that, I was the agency's technical escalation point for every broken tag, every attribution dispute, every report that fell apart before a client meeting. The diagnostic logic I'd built over a decade existed only in my head. There was no infrastructure for anyone else to carry it.
