The Partnership Blueprint Checklist

Bottom line: The Partnership Blueprint is the pre-campaign alignment document that locks the client and agency to the same definition of success, the same data source, the same audience, and the same scope — before a single campaign goes live.

What it is

  • A 4-field contract-adjacent document
  • Completed with the client, not for them
  • Signed off before setup begins

What it prevents

  • Data archaeology
  • "Lead" meaning different things to you and the client
  • Scope creep disguised as "quick extras"
  • Goalposts moving mid-campaign

When to use it

  • Before every new engagement
  • Retrofit into existing campaigns that don't have one
  • Revisit any time the client asks for something "quick"

Why it matters

  • It's the engineering counterpart to a creative brief — where the brief describes what you're making, the blueprint describes how the data flows and what you're measuring
  • Once signed, it becomes a shield — when scope shifts or numbers get contested, you point to the document instead of relying on memory or goodwill
  • It's the difference between a vendor relationship (reactive) and a partnership (governed)

The Checklist

1. Business Objective

The ultimate business goal — named as impact, not activity. This aligns your team on outcome, not output.

✅ Named the specific impact (e.g., "qualified leads," not "growth")
✅ Defined measurable success
2. Source of Truth

The single data source that measures progress toward the Business Objective. When platforms disagree, this one wins.

✅ Named one platform as the official record for this objective
✅Defined what counts as a conversion inside that system
 3. Audience & Exclusions

Who the campaign is built for — and who must be filtered out. "Lead" means nothing until you specify who a lead isn't.

✅ Defined who we're targeting
✅ Listed who to filter out
 4. Scope Boundary

The closed container of what's covered under the contract. Anything outside this list is a change order.

✅ Listed channels and deliverables covered
✅ Listed what's out of scope (= change order)
Sign-off

The document only works if both sides agree to it.

✅ Client approved in writing
✅ Team has a copy before setup

Built for agency owners who are done improvising.
